One Sustained Fatal Injuries, Randy Scott Jr. Arrested in Stockton Pedestrian Crash

STOCKTON, CA (November 26, 2018) — A pedestrian died after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred on Wednesday, November 21.

The pedestrian was crossing the street in the 2000 block of Country Club Boulevard near Carlton Avenue at around 6:16 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The area was well-lit, the CHP said, and the pedestrian was about halfway across the crosswalk when a 2001 Nissan moving eastbound on Country Club approached.

The CHP report stated that the driver of the Nissan failed to notice the pedestrian and did not stop or slow down. The right front of the Nissan hit the pedestrian, causing fatal injuries to the victim. A witness followed the Nissan for a short distance and was able to write down the vehicle’s license plate number.

There were many small pieces of plastic located at the scene, and officers were able to figure out that the pieces belonged to a 2000-2004 Nissan. Officers searched the area and found a 2001 Nissan Sentra matching the description of the car in the 1800 block of Country Club Boulevard.

The vehicle sustained vehicular damage consistent with a crash with a pedestrian, according to the CHP.

Officers found the vehicle’s owner inside his residence across the street from where he parked and determined he was under the influence.

29-year-old Randy James Scott Jr. was arrested on felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and suspicion of murder. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail without bail.

Scott is scheduled to appear in San Joaquin County Superior Court on Tuesday, November 27 at around 1:30 p.m.

The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
