Deadly Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 395 in Adelanto
ADELANTO, CA (October 21, 2019) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash Monday morning in Adelanto.
The crash happened just before 6:00 a.m. on Highway 395 north of Trenton Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was standing in the northbound traffic lane when a passenger vehicle that was also traveling north struck him.
The pedestrian was thrown into the roadway upon impact. A northbound Freightliner, 3-axle, commercial truck traveling at about 55 mph then struck the victim a second time, officials said.
As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene. Authorities did not release his identity pending next of kin notification.
The sedan that first struck the victim did not stop to render aid.
At this time, CHP officials are looking for the driver of the vehicle who remains outstanding. Anyone with information is asked to call Victorville CHP at 760-241-1186.
