Man Fatally Struck by Impaired Speeding Driver in Henderson
HENDERSON, NV (May 13, 2019)– A pedestrian died Saturday afternoon after an alleged DUI high-speed driver struck him at South Mountain Vista Street and East Sunset Road.
According to Henderson spokesperson Officer Katrina Rothmeyer, fire officials responded to the scene around 3 p.m.
With details and evidence under consideration, officials believe a silver 2016 Chevrolet sedan left the roadway and struck a pedestrian at a bus stop.
As a result of the accident, the driver sought treatment at St. Rose Sienna hospital in unknown condition. The pedestrian, however, died at the scene.
Officers believed both speed and impairment played factors in this fatal crash.
Following the incident, West Sunset Road was closed off to traffic for several hours as police canvassed the area for evidence.
