Man Fatally Struck by DUI Driver on Winding Way in Carmichael

 
CARMICHAEL, CA (July 21, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed following a DUI crash at Winding Way Sunday evening in Carmichael.
 
The crash happened around 9:29 p.m., at Winding Way and Johnson Drive. First responders arrived to the area shortly after.
 
According to the CHP, a man was walking along a bike lane at the intersection. There, a gray SUV driving on the right hand shoulder
struck the pedestrian.
 
Paramedics were immediately dispatched for medical assistance. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. However, his identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family members.
 
The woman driving the SUV was arrested on DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges. She was later booked into the Sacramento County Jail.
 
Authorities are still working on the incident and urging witnesses to come forward with information.
