66-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Painter Avenue
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (September 25, 2018) – A man was killed Tuesday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Lakeland Road. The identity of the 66-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Whittier Police Department, the incident took place at about 7:00 PM in the 13100 block of Lakeland Road, near Painter Avenue. The victim had been walking on a sidewalk when an eastbound vehicle struck him.
The pedestrian was transported to the St Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
Witnesses described the hit-and-run vehicle as a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with possible damage to the front-end.
