Police Investigate Crash on 10 Freeway in Monterey Park

Monterey Park, CA (January 30, 2025) – A pedestrian died in a crash on 10 Freeway.

A vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday evening as they walked on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway connector road in Monterey Park near Alhambra. 

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.

CHP officers responded to the scene at 11:08 p.m. Wednesday on the eastbound San Bernardino Freeway at the connector to the Long Beach (710) Freeway. 

They learned the pedestrian had been walking through a construction zone in the middle lanes when a dark-colored vehicle hit them, CHP Officer Megan Curtis told City News Service.

The CHP reported that multiple vehicles struck the victim, whose identity, including age and gender, was not immediately available. 

Authorities pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The crash forced the closure of three connector lanes between the two freeways as officials conducted their investigation.
