1 Dead in Berkeley Pedestrian Crash on 80 Freeway

 
BERKELEY, CA (May 31, 2020) – Early Friday morning, a pedestrian died in a car accident on 80 Freeway in Berkeley.
 
At around 2:50 a.m., the pedestrian was hit by a Kia Optima in the westbound lanes of 80 Freeway. The crash occurred near University Avenue.
 
Moreover, the authorities declared the person dead at the scene. However, the gender of the deceased, as well as their name, wasn’t disclosed by the police yet.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, the CHP revealed.
 
The detectives are still trying to find out why the person was on the freeway.

Due to the crash, the authorities briefly shut down all westbound lanes during the investigation. Also, the CHP issued a SigAlert. However, the lanes reopened around 4:15 a.m.
