64-Year-Old Man Hospitalized after Chain-Reaction Crash on Mission Bay Drive

 
PACIFIC BEACH, CA (October 14, 2019) – A 64-year-old pedestrian suffered injuries in a chain-reaction crash on Mission Bay Drive, Monday afternoon.
 
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 1:20 PM. Due to unknown reasons, a silver BMW drifted to the left and struck the victim in the center divider.
 
Then, the vehicle continued into the intersection at Garnet Avenue. There, it collided with a southbound Ford Fusion. The BMW overturned and landed on its roof as a result of the collision.
 
Emergency responders rushed the pedestrian to a hospital with head trauma, a broken pelvis, and internal injuries. Updates on his current condition remain unknown. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Fusion driver complained of pain.
 
The 40-year-old BMW driver did not suffer serious injuries and was able to leave the scene on his own. As per reports, officers did not arrest the BMW driver.
 
San Diego police continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
