Reno, NV (October 15, 2020) – On Thursday, a pedestrian was injured in an accident on Mill Street after a vehicle failed to yield the right of way.
Moreover, the Reno Police Department says the accident happened at about 8:25 p.m. in the area of Yori Avenue near the Renown Regional Medical Center.
Furthermore, all lanes on the westbound Mill Street are temporarily impassible until 3:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, authorities are still waiting on the status of the pedestrian’s condition. Fortunately, reports say they are not life-threatening.
The Reality of a Pedestrian Accident
In today’s current state of affairs, taking strolls outdoors is becoming the new normal. Moreover, the likelihood of accidents involving pedestrians increases.
In contrast, car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents. However, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers says, “Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents. However, pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries”.
“Some of the worst pedestrian incidents involve minors. It’s because they are sometimes hard to see. They also ride bikes, skateboards, etc. Pedestrian incidents usually occur in shopping center entrances and street corners,” he added.
