71-Year-Old Man Struck by Vehicle near Washington Boulevard, Rito Moreno-Martinez Arrested
WHITTIER, CA (August 13, 2018) – On Monday afternoon, a pedestrian was hospitalized after a DUI crash on Broadway. The victim’s name and place of residene were not immediately released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place in the 8100 block of Broadway, near Washington Boulevard.
The 71-year-old man who was crossing the street at approximately 2:10 PM when he was struck by a car, driven by a suspected DUI driver.
Firefighters took the pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment. The man suffered critical injuries, according to a report from the Whittier Police.
Officers arrested 41-year-old Rito Moreno-Martinez of Whittier on suspicion of driving under the influence. Martinez is being held at Whittier jail with a $100,000 bail, for DUI causing bodily harm. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time, as the authorities continue to investigate.
