Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Cherry Avenue and 37th Street
Lakewood, CA (July 18, 2020)– A collision reported on Cherry Avenue and 37th Street killed one pedestrian and left the driver hospitalized on Wednesday.
Authorities received a report of a fatal collision just west of the Long Beach Airport on July 15. At about 12:25 p.m., Long Beach police then immediately responded to Cherry Avenue and 37th Street.
According to Officer Ivan Garcia, police found the wreckage of the collision and a man with serious injuries.
The man later died at the scene however, the release of his identity awaits for the notification of next-of-kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the involved vehicle was brought to the hospital for treatments. Garcia said the driver was in a stable condition.
The events leading up to the fatal collision is currently unclear. Moreover, both directions of Cherry Avenue was blocked as the investigation continues.
