Late Evening Pedestrian Crash on 405 Freeway in Long Beach Ends in Fatality

 
LONG BEACH, CA (July 24, 2019) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on 405 Freeway late Wednesday evening, in Long Beach.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 11:00 p.m. along the southbound 405 Freeway at Cherry Avenue.
 
CHP officials responded to the scene and found the pedestrian lying face down on the right shoulder. A white older sedan was also located at the crash site. However is is currently unknown if it was the involved vehicle.
 
The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was reportedly walking in the slow lane when they were struck by a vehicle.
 
A SigAlert was issued, blocking all freeway lanes for unknown duration while the investigation was being conducted.
 
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
