46-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Pedestrian Accident on University Avenue
San Diego, CA (August 26, 2020) – On Monday night, officials reported a fatal crash involving a pedestrian on University Avenue.
The tragic incident occurred on August 24 on University Avenue between 36th and 37th streets, said San Diego Police Officer John Buttle.
Authorities responded to the scene at about 7:40 p.m.
According to the report, a 52-year-old female driver of a 2007 Nissan Maxima sedan was traveling eastbound. At the same, the 46-year-old male pedestrian was crossing University Avenue outside a crosswalk when the Nissan struck him.
Officer Buttle said, the responding officials pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. However, his identification has not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
Meanwhile, the Nissan driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation. Furthermore, Buttle said investigators do not believe that the fatal crash was influenced by drugs or alcohol.
