Pedestrian Killed in Los Angeles Bus Accident

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 14, 2019) – A man died after he got caught under a tour bus and was dragged several feet on Thursday, January 10.

Los Angeles police said that shortly after 5 p.m., the bus struck a man at the intersection of South Flower Street and West 23rd Street.

According to police, the bus dragged the victim for approximately 100 feet to the intersection of Flower and Adams Boulevard before it turned onto the 110 Freeway and drove away.

The 77-year-old pedestrian, believed to be homeless, died from sustained injuries, police said.

A security camera recorded the tour bus hurtling down Flower Street. A man was trapped under the back end of the bus. In vain, a motorist tried to get the bus driver’s attention.

Los Angeles police later located the bus by enhancing the security camera video and finding the bus company’s name: Samho Tours.

The bus is in an impound lot but does not exhibit clear evidence of a criminal hit-and-run.

According to the detectives, the vehicle is so big at 45 feet that the driver may have been ignorant that he struck anything.

Investigators are doing a forensic analysis of the bus and looking for more videos that might have recorded the incidents. Additional images may reveal if the driver should have been more cautious.

Investigators stated that they will collect as much evidence as possible, then interview the driver.

Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
