Pedestrian Critically Injured in Crash on Grand Avenue and Perkins Street [Oakland, CA]

28-Year-Old Pedestrian Hospitalized after Being Struck by Vehicle in Grand Avenue and Perkins Street Crash

Oakland, CA (July 23, 2021) – A vehicle hit and critically injured a pedestrian after a crash on Grand Avenue and Perkins Street on Wednesday night.

The incident happened on July 21 on Grand Avenue and Perkins Street near Lake Merritt. Officers responded and arrived at the scene around 9:30 p.m. 

According to the report, the collision involved a silver Toyota Camry that was traveling west on Grand Avenue. Then, police said that the vehicle hit the 28-year-old pedestrian from Oakland who was walking south in a crosswalk. 

Medics transported the pedestrian to Highland Hospital with critical injuries. However, there has been no update regarding the victim’s current condition.

Meanwhile, both the occupants of the Toyota did not sustain any injuries from the crash. Furthermore, police said that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Pedestrian Accident in Oakland

Officers reported that it is currently unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. Moreover, the driver did not seem to be speeding.
