SYLMAR, CA (August 19, 2024) – Sunday morning, a disastrous pedestrian crash on 5 Freeway near State Route 14 injured one person.

The incident happened at around 3:20 a.m. on the 5 Freeway, north of State Route 14.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck a CHP officer who was assisting a disabled vehicle.

Moreover, responders rushed the officer to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Furthermore, the crash closed the southbound 5 Freeway but has long since reopened.
