Arlington, TX (January 5, 2025) On Friday, 53-year-old Tonya Clardy of Arlington was pronounced dead after a tragic pedestrian accident on Matlock Road.

According to Arlington Police (APD), the fatal incident happened around 6:21 a.m. at the intersection of Matlock Road and Turner Warnell Road.

Reports say that Arlington Fire, Police, and EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash, however, dispatchers received an update that a driver involved in the crash had been struck by another vehicle after exiting her car.

Upon arrival, officers found Clardy lying unresponsive on the roadway. Medics transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that Clardy had been driving northbound on Matlock Road when a southbound vehicle attempted a left turn onto Turner Warnell Road, causing a collision. Clardy exited her vehicle to check on the other driver and exchange information. Tragically, while crossing the intersection, a northbound vehicle struck her.

The driver who hit Clardy stopped immediately and cooperated with authorities. Police ruled out speed and alcohol as factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
