1 Dead in Moses Lake Pedestrian Accident on State Route 17
MOSES LAKE, WA (December 30, 2023) – Thursday night, 51-year-old Paulina Alvarez died in a brutal pedestrian crash on State Route 17 in Moses Lake.
The incident happened just after 5:30 p.m. when a car struck a Soap Lake woman, on State Route 17, four miles north of Moses Lake.
Reports revealed that Alvarez got out of her vehicle on the side of State Route 17 and tried to cross the highway on foot. However, a Toyota Avalon sedan driven by 28-year-old Brandon Bastian of Moses Lake hit her. As a result, the pedestrian died at the scene and Bastian suffered no injuries in the crash.
Also, the authorities ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
Moreover, the authorities haven’t determined why Alvarez got out of her vehicle and crossed the road.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
