Paul Lafargue Dies in El Camino Real Truck Collision

Palo Alto, CA (March 11, 2020) – An 11-year old Paul Lafargue was killed in a fatal flatbed truck and bicycle collision in El Camino Real near California Road on March 6.

A police investigation initially revealed that both were traveling east Friday on California Avenue approaching El Camino Real.

When the truck made a right turn to head south, it struck the boy riding his bicycle on the sidewalk.

Responders immediately pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office later identified his body on Wednesday, and ruled his death an accident.

Paul Lafargue’s mom, Veronique Lafargue, initiated the making of posters that say “Slow Down For Kids”, as a reminder of the tragedy, and to encourage everyone to slow down for children.

Indeed, this is a stark reminder to be more mindful of people on the road. Moreover, be more aware of surrounding pedestrians and cyclists to avoid accidents like the one on El Camino Real.
