Paul Klink, Sargi Rodriguez Injured in Sonora Rear-End Crash

Sonora, CA (October 12, 2020) – On Monday, 56-year-old Paul Klink and 36-year-old Sargi Rodriguez, both of Modesto, were injured in a rear-end crash on Highway 108.

The accident happened at about 4:20 p.m. at South Washington Street and Lime Kiln Road.

The California Highway Patrol said Klink was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck. He was stopped at a red light on the westbound side of the highway.

Just then, Rodriguez driving his 1999 Toyota Tacoma pulled directly behind Klink.

Also, 70-year-old William Simpson of Jamestown in a 2004 Buick Century pulled up behind Rodriguez.

Apparently, Simpson was traveling about 20 miles per hour when the pileup occurred.

Sonora Unit CHP Officer Steve Machado said, “Mr. Simpson was unable to stop his vehicle before crashing into the rear of Mr. Rodriguez’s vehicle. The impact caused Mr. Rodriguez’s vehicle to propel forward and the front of his vehicle crashed into the rear of Mr. Klink’s vehicle.”

Klink and Rodriguez incurred injuries in the crash.

Tow crews worked to clear the crash scene for about 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, authorities said alcohol and drugs are not factors in the crash.
