Female Passenger Killed in Tragic Crash on Airport Way South [Seattle, WA]

Seattle, WA (August 9, 2024) On Thursday morning, a female passenger in her 50s, was killed while a female driver in her 30s, was hurt after a tragic crash on Airport Way South.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the traffic accident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Airport Way South near South Hardy Street.

Reports say that state troopers tried to stop the driver of a Jeep Cherokee for expired registration tags, however, the driver refused to stop and instead fled the scene.

Officers say that the driver sped away at a high speed from the scene, the driver was driving over 100 mph when it collided with a light pole and rolled over.

Authorities say that the driver suffered injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center, while the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say that the driver will be booked into the King County Jail after she is released from the hospital.

SPD is investigating the fatal crash and have not released additional information at this time.
