1 Hurt in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Hosing Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 21, 2020) – Thursday night, a passenger sustained injuries in a hit-and-run DUI crash on Hosking Avenue.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a vehicle hit a fire hydrant at about 9:30 p.m. Also, the incident on Hosking Avenue and Granite Peak Street caused water to spill on the road.

The department revealed that a passenger sustained minor injuries in the collision. Meanwhile, after the crash, the driver escaped on foot. Thus, the police started a short chase until they arrested the suspect.

Furthermore, the officers confirmed that they took the male driver in custody after suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run.

In a time like this, taking strolls outdoors is becoming the new normal. Meanwhile, so has the risk of pedestrian accidents.

Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.

Common Causes of Pedestrian Accidents:

  • Distracted drivers
  • Speeding
  • Vehicles failing to stop or yield
  • Pedestrians ignoring crosswalk signals
  • Difficult weather conditions

Mark Sweet, a personal injury attorney at Sweet Lawyers, says that serious pedestrian accident cases may call for a separate investigation spearheaded by an experienced lawyer fighting on behalf of the injured party.
