Passenger Airlifted in Hit-and-Run Crash on South West Avenue [Fresno, CA]

Fresno, CA (November 19, 2022) – On Friday, a Honda passenger was airlifted in a hit-and-run crash on South West Avenue.

The traffic incident took place north of Nebraska Avenue.

Officers say the driver of a Honda Civic was northbound on South West Avenue when the vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree before it overturned in the front yard of a residence.

Officers say the driver ran from the crash scene leaving a passenger behind.

Meanwhile, the passenger sustained major injuries and was partially trapped under the vehicle.

Fresno County Fire extricated the passenger and airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center.

Later on, the authorities located the driver about a mile away and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

Officers are investigating the crash north of Nebraska Avenue.
