Two Hurt in Three-Car Collision near Ainsworth Avenue

PARKLAND, WA (April 19, 2018)– On Thursday morning, a multiple-vehicle crash on Highway 512 blocked the westbound lanes and caused severe injuries, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident took place just before 10:00 AM on the westbound Highway 512, near the Ainsworth Avenue overpass. A 35-year-old Spanaway man driving an unidentified vehicle was in the right lane of Highway 512 when he rear-ended a parked box truck.

The impact of the collision sent his car into the middle lane, where he T-boned another vehicle.

Firefighters had to pull the man out of the wreckage. He suffered a collapsed lung, leg injuries, and facial lacerations, and was transported to the Saint Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma for treatment. The other people involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. There is no update on their current condition.

The westbound lanes of Highway 512 were closed for about two and a half hours. Traffic was redirected down Pacific Avenue East (Highway 7) as crews worked to investigate and clear the roadway of debris.

Unfortunate road accidents can happen anywhere and to anyone. One small mistake could lead to disastrous results, especially if there is alcohol or drugs involved.
