Afternoon 3-Vehicle Wreck on Highway 122 in Palmdale Kills One and Hurts Three

 
PALMDALE, CA (January 12, 2019) – One person was killed and three others were injured following a multi-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Palmdale.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:43 p.m. at the intersection of Pearblossom Highway, also known as Highway 122, and Small Road.
 
According to the CHP, a sedan, red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, a white Chevrolet Suburban were involved. The impact caused the sedan to overturn down an embankment onto railroad tracks, reportedly used by Metrolink.
 
One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
 
A 60-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were taken to a trauma center with moderate injuries. A 19-year-old man was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
The Metrolink’s Antelope Valley train 265 from Los Angeles to Lancaster was held at Vincent Grade/Acton while the car was removed from the tracks. The car was removed about 4:15 p.m. and the train resumed service after a 25-minute delay.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.
