Car Crashes into Tree and Catches Fire on Highway 99 in Pixley Killing One

 
PIXLEY, CA (September 1, 2019) – One person was killed following a fiery crash early Sunday morning on Highway 99 in Tulare County, the California Highway Patrol said.
 
The crash happened around 3:42 a.m. on the northbound side of the highway at Avenue 120.
 
According to the CHP, a vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire. Responding firefighters doused the flames that had spread from the vehicle to the tree.
 
The Tulare County Coroner’s Office pulled a body from the burned vehicle and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
 
The identity of the deceased was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
 
CHP officials are still trying to determine the mechanics of the crash, as well as the circumstances surrounding the incident.
