One Killed in Fiery Crash on Highway 41 at Laguna Avenue [RIVERDALE, CA]

Fatal 2-Vehicle Fiery Crash on Highway 41 in Riverdale

 
RIVERDALE, CA (June 29, 2019) – One person died following a fiery crash on Highway 41 at Laguna Avenue early Saturday morning.
 
The crash happened around 4:12 a.m. on northbound Highway 41, just south of Laguna Avenue.
 
According to the CHP, a black Hummer and a Hyundai sedan collided, causing one of the cars to catch fire. In addition, at least one person was trapped inside the burning vehicle.
 
A coroner was dispatched to the scene and confirmed one fatality as a result of the accident. However, the identity of the deceased was not immediately available.
 
Paramedics airlifted another patient, a 50-year-old man, to Community Regional Medical Center with injuries. However, authorities did not specify what injuries the victim sustained.
 
CHP officials diverted traffic around the area, closing Highway 41 in both directions for more than four hours. However, the highway reopened just before 8:30 a.m.
 
It is unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
