Fatal Rollover Crash on Highway 99 in McFarland

 
MCFARLAND, CA (July 1, 2019) – One person was killed Monday night following a big-rig rollover crash on Highway 99 at Whisler Road.
 
The crash happened around 9:06 p.m., on the northbound lanes of Highway 99. First responders arrived near the Whisler Road on-ramp shortly after.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig was heading north when it struck the center divider and consequently overturned as a result.
 
The impact caused the driver to be partially ejected from the truck into a block of concrete. He suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Environmental health was called out to clean up the diesel spilled on the roadway. The surrounding area was also closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.
 
Further details, including the identity of the victim, were not immediately available. CHP is still investigating the incident.
