Driver Dies after Crashing His Big Rig into Guardrail on 80 Freeway in San Pablo
SAN PABLO, CA (July 15, 2019) – One person was killed following a big rig crash Friday morning on 80 Freeway in San Pablo.
The crash happened around 5:05 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just West of El Portal Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 53-foot big rig hit a guardrail for unknown reasons. The impact sent the truck down a hillside.
The unidentified big rig driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the impact.
Two other vehicles, a gold Nissan Altima and gray Subaru sedan, struck crash debris, but it is unknown if there were injured occupants from those cars.
Officers shut down two eastbound lanes of the freeway while they worked on the scene.
