One Person Hurt after Fontana Two-Vehicle Collision on Cherry Avenue
FONTANA, CA (June 24, 2019) – One person sustained injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Fontana on Friday, June 21.
At around 11:30 p.m., officers rushed to the accident in the 14400 block of Cherry Avenue near Live Oak Avenue.
According to authorities, the driver of a white Acura traveled southbound on Live Oak and tried to make a right turn onto Cherry. Then the driver of a white BMW traveling westbound on Cherry reportedly ran the red light and crashed head-on into the Acura. The BMW came to a rest in the eastbound lanes of Cherry.
At least one person received treatments from emergency medical responders and was transported to a hospital with undetermined injuries.
A small fuel spill was found into the gutter. However, crews were able to apply an absorbent to prevent it from spreading. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage.
The Fontana P.D. is still currently investigating the collision.
Traffic lights are there to protect all motorists and are supposed to be followed. Driving in an area with intersections is always risky. It requires drivers to have full attention to their driving and the road. A minor judgment lapse could lead to disastrous results and may end up hurting the driver, or worse, other motorists in the area.
