The crash happened around 9:34 p.m., at 1622 South Union Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Toyota Camry and a semi box trailer collided for unknown reasons. One occupant sustained an injury to the left eye and left elbow.

Paramedics took the injured patient to a local hospital for proper treatment. However, there has been no update on their current condition.

One of the drivers reportedly fled on foot, leaving the vehicle blocking the roadway.

Due to several factors remaining unclear at this time, an investigation is still ongoing.

The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage. However, the roadway has since reopened.

To reduce your risk of being involved in a collision with a semi truck, always keep your distance with them. Make sure to give trucks plenty of room, both when behind and in front of them. Be sure to follow all rules of the road, always passing on the left and maintaining a safe speed. When drivers drive predictably, it is easier to avoid accidents.
