One Fatally Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Avenue 48 [Indio, CA]

Man Fatally Struck by Car near Madison Street

 
INDIO, CA (August 30, 2018) – One person was fatally injured Thursday afternoon in a pedestrian crash on Avenue 48. The victim’s name was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
 
A report from the California Highway Patrol showed that the collision happened at approximately 3:30 PM, near Madison Street.
 
According to the Indio Police Department, medics arrived at the scene and rushed the injured victim to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
 
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the fatal incident. It is unclear whether or not the pedestrian was walking in a crosswalk at the time of the incident, and the events leading up to the crash. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
