One Killed, One Hurt after Lake Elsinore Motorcycle Collision on Highway 74
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (June 24, 2019) – One person died and another suffered injuries in a motorcycle collision on Highway 74 on Sunday, June 23.
According to authorities, the crash happened on Ortega Highway near Ortega Oaks. It is the site of the San Juan Loop trailhead and the landmark Ortega Oaks Candy Store in Riverside County.
The California Highway Patrol log said that the fatal crash happened southwest of Lake Elsinore. It occurred just before 11 a.m. and involved two motorcycles. The report said it appeared that the bikes didn’t slow for another earlier crash that occurred on the highway.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department tweeted that paramedics airlifted one patient to the hospital. The other person received treatments at the scene but died.
Officials shut down Highway 74 on both directions until early afternoon.
