5 People Injured in Head-On Crash Caused by Wrong-Way Driver near Windsor

WINDSOR, CA (January 14, 2019) – Five people were injured in an alleged DUI multi-vehicle crash near Windsor Sunday early morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, they received alerts about a possible wrong-way driver on Highway 101 near Arata Lane at around 12:55 a.m. on Sunday. It was reported that a Ford Focus was heading north in the southbound lanes.

When officers responded to the area, they found that a three-vehicle collision happened shortly after the alerts. Aside from the Ford Focus, a Volkswagen Beetle and a GMC Sierra were also involved in the crash.

A woman from Forestville, who was driving the Volkswagen, sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital. The driver and two passengers in the GMC were taken to Sutter Hospital for treatment.

37-year-old Omar Cisnero-Ramirez of Healdsburg, who was driving the Ford, was also brought to a hospital with minor injuries. He was later arrested for suspicion of DUI causing injuries.

The crash is being investigated by CHP.
