Two Killed and Five Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Long Island Expressway
BRENTWOOD, NY (August 12, 2018) – A man and a woman were killed Sunday afternoon following a collision near the Long Island Expressway.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 1:40 PM. A Toyota Corolla, driven by 39-year-old Olvin Jimenez, was heading south on Crooked Hill Road when it lost control, crossed into the northbound lane, and collided with a Toyota RAV4.
Jimenez and his front seat passenger, 39-year-old Erica Jimenez-Mejia, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Two children who were in the back seat of the Corolla, ages 2 and 10, were transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with serious injuries. The relationship between the adults and the children were not immediately known.
The driver of the RAV4, 21-year-old Allissiana Rose Licata, and her passengers, 17-year-old Nicholas Licata and 73-year-old Emmanuel Licata, were taken to the Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries.
