Lubbock, TX (January 12, 2023) – Past 2 a.m. on Thursday, an officer sustained injuries in a South Loop 289 fatal collision.

Police responded to a collision with possible injuries in the eastbound lanes of the loop near Peoria Avenue.

When the first officer arrived, they were rear-ended by another vehicle. LPD said the officer was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, the driver that struck the officer was declared dead at the scene.
