Officer Suffers Injuries, Driver Arrested in Ventura Crash

Ventura, CA (October 06, 2021) – On Monday, a police officer suffered injuries and officers arrested a 35-year-old Irvine man in a Highway 101 DUI crash.

The accident took place at around 5:50 p.m. south of Seaward Avenue.

Officers said the Irvine man in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler was southbound on the highway’s right shoulder, passing slower commute traffic.

At the same time, an officer was southbound in a marked police vehicle in the #3 lane.

The officer said he saw the Jeep coming from behind, so he turned on his overhead emergency lights to warn the driver.

The Irvine man drifted his Jeep to the left and rear-ended the police vehicle.

Then, the Jeep rolled over with the debris from the crash hit a third vehicle.

As a result of the crash, the officer incurred minor injuries. Rescuers took him to a medical facility for treatment.

Meanwhile, the authorities suspected the Irvine man was driving under the influence and arrested him at the scene.

Later on, officers booked the Irvine man at the Ventura County Jail for driving under the influence.
