Injuries Reported in Turlock Multi-Vehicle Accident on Wayside Drive
TURLOCK, CA (May 8, 2022) – Friday night, authorities arrested Octavio Macias after a multi-vehicle crash on Wayside Drive.
The incident happened at 9:15 p.m. in front of Denair Manor Apartments, 550 Wayside Drive.
When the authorities arrived, they located a blue Nissan SUV, a gray Nissan sedan, and the other was a blue Ford sedan.
According to reports, 23-year-old Octavio Macias drove the blue Nissan SUV with his passenger. Both of them sustained minor injuries. After the crash, Macias declared hospitalization. Meanwhile, the American Medical Response transported his passenger to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the other two vehicles were parked on the side, and no occupants.
When officers tried to make contact, Macias fled on foot. However, officers managed to apprehend him without further incident in the 1300 block of N Denair Avenue.
Officers confirmed that Macias exhibited signs of being under the influence. Thus, they urged him to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. After participating in one, he failed to participate in the other two due to being intoxicated.
Moreover, officers also found an open alcohol container in his vehicle.
Meanwhile, all three vehicles had moderate damage.
Also, witnesses confirmed that the blue Nissan SUV headed west in the 500 block of Wayside Drive. Then, it hit the left rear of the gray Nissan sedan. Afterward, the impact pushed the gray Nissan sedan and its front hit the rear of the blue Ford sedan.
After the blue Nissan crashed with the gray Nissan, it steered to the left. Then, it finally stopped, facing southbound in the middle of the road.
Moreover, witnesses said that the blue Nissan SUV was engaged in some sort of reckless driving activity with a silver sedan.
Eventually, authorities arrested Macias and booked him into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. He’s currently facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, resisting a peace officer, and hit and run causing property damage. Also, the authorities issued a driver’s license suspension order.
