Oakland Woman Emelia Martinez Fatally Struck on 16th Avenue [Oakland, CA]

Oakland, CA (June 02, 2022) – On Tuesday night, Emelia Martinez, 73, of Oakland, died in a hit-and-run crash on 16th Avenue.

The fatal collision took place at about 5:33 p.m. in the area of International Boulevard.

Officers say Martinez was crossing the intersection in a marked crosswalk. Suddenly, a northbound mid-90s white Hummer SUV from International Boulevard struck her.

Right away, the paramedics rushed Martinez to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Moreover, the SUV sped northbound on 16th Avenue. 

Officers say it is not known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the Oakland hit-and-run crash.

Meanwhile, the police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland offer up to $10,000 in reward money for details that would lead to the identification and arrest of the SUV driver.
