The crash happened around 4:54 p.m. at the intersection of Elkhorn Boulevard and 34th Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Chevrolet pickup truck and a white Toyota pickup truck collided, causing one of them to overturn.

When officers arrived on the scene, one vehicle was facing the wrong way, blocking the first lane of the westbound traffic. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed away from the wreckage.

Responding paramedics took one patient to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

One of drivers was believed to have been driving under the influence of alcohol, the CHP said.

It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation.

Drinking and driving is against the law. If you are even slightly inebriated, do not get behind the wheel and drive to your next destination. Contact a taxi company or someone sober to drive you home. You will find yourself in a serious accident because alcohol can and will impair your motor skills which are needed for driving.
