1 Person Dead in West Covina Multi-Vehicle Accident on 10 Freeway and Azusa Avenue
WEST COVINA, CA (April 27, 2022) – Wednesday morning, authorities arrested Noe Manzanarez after a deadly three-vehicle crash on 10 Freeway.
The incident occurred at 12:02 a.m. on 10 Freeway, west of Azusa Avenue.
According to reports, 19-year-old Noe Manzanarez of Palmdale drove a Toyota Camry east on the no. 1 lane. Then, the suspect’s unsafe speed despite traffic conditions led the Camry to rear-end a Nissan Sentra. Moreover, reports confirmed that the Nissan stopped because of heavy traffic.
As a result, the Camry or the Nissan struck a Ford F-350 pickup that had stopped in the next lane.
Then, the Nissan’s female driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, Manzanarez sustained minor injuries. Also, a 34-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man suffered no injuries.
Eventually, officers arrested Manzanarez on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury or death.
Then, they booked the suspect at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry station. Moreover, the authorities held him at the Inmate Reception Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Furthermore, the incident shut down all eastbound lanes of the freeway at 12:32 a.m. By 12:45 a.m., the no. 5 lane reopened to allow eastbound traffic.
Meanwhile, the authorities called off the SigAlert around 3:15 a.m.
