Andres Emilio Flores-Avendano Arrested after Fatal Car Crash near West Trimble Road

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 15, 2018) – A man was killed Saturday evening following a DUI crash near West Trimble Road. The victim was later identified as 18-year-old Noe Fernandez Ortiz, a resident of Watsonville.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:45 PM. A Honda Civic, driven by Ortiz, pulled over onto the shoulder of Highway 101 when it was struck by a speeding Ford Mustang.
 
The impact of the crash ejected Ortiz from the vehicle, causing serious injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. His two passengers suffered minor injuries, but it is unknown whether or not they required hospitalization.
 
The driver of the Mustang, 29-year-old Andres Emilio Flores-Avendano of Santa Clara, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
