Nicholas Gonzalez Killed in Riverside County Big Rig Accident

Moreno Valley, CA (May 19, 2020)– Officials identified Nicholas Gonzalez as the man killed in the fiery crash incident on Gilman Springs Road Sunday night.

Authorities reported that the horrific accident occurred on May 17. At about 10:47 p.m., California Highway Patrol units were dispatched.

There were at least five vehicles involved, including a semi-truck. One report said the main collision occurred between the semi and the pickup truck. CHP later identified the truck as a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Mr. Gonzolez.

The eastbound semi-truck and the westbound Silverado collided on the roadway and ignited a huge fire.

Eyewitness Account

Peter Kling of Loma Linda, a witness, said he was on his way home when he saw the pickup suddenly deviated for unknown reasons. As a result, the pickup hit the semi-tractor.

Kling said he went immediately to the shoulder of the road. “All I saw was a huge ball of flame and the pickup truck go off the ground.” The pickup which was also burning landed in front of him so he quickly hit the brakes and struck only the front of his car.

After that, Kling noticed the pickup driver inside the vehicle. Authorities confirmed at 11:33 p.m. that the pickup driver was dead. In addition, the fire was already put out.

Paramedics evaluate the five persons involved in the crash. None of them requested further medical treatment.

No additional information is available as of the moment.
