Nevaeh Gomez and Elva Andrade Identified as Fatalities in Oxnard Scooter Accident

OXNARD, CA (June 24, 2020) – Monday night, Elva Andrade and 7-year-old Nevaeh Gomez died in a scooter crash on Pleasant Valley Road.

The authorities received a report of the crash before 9:15 p.m. on East Pleasant Valley Road near Laguna Road.

According to the CHP, a Yamaha scooter and Acura sedan collided. 55-year-old Elva Andrade drove the scooter with Nevaeh Gomez.

However, a sedan driver, identified as 21-year-old Jacob A. Caliboso of Oxnard, drove across solid double yellow lines. Thus, the two motorists crashed head-on.

The force of the impact threw Andrade and her passenger off the scooter. When the authorities arrived, they declared Elva Andrade deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, responders transported her juvenile passenger to Ventura Medical Center with major injuries. Nevaeh Gomez later died from the injuries she sustained.

Moreover, the police confirmed that both scooter riders wore helmets when the incident happened.

Furthermore, the police arrested Acura driver, Jacob Caliboso, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony gross vehicular manslaughter.

The family of the victims started a Gofundme to raise money for memorial expenses. Consider donating if you have the means.

During this tragic time, we would like to send our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and community of Elva Andrade and Nevaeh Gomez.
