VALENCIA, CA (February 22, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, authorities arrested Nelson Zelaya after a DUI crash on State Route 126 near Travel Village.
 
The incident happened at about 4:20 p.m. on State Route 126 near Travel Village.
 
According to reports, the crash involved a drunk driver.
 
“The collision occurred between two vehicles, a Jeep and a Ford pickup truck,” said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
 
Reports confirmed that the driver of the Jeep traveled while under the influence of alcohol. Then, he crashed into a Ford pickup truck.
 
Moreover, Greengard confirmed that two people inside the truck sustained unknown injuries.
 
Meanwhile, authorities arrested 37-year-old Nelson Zelaya for felony DUI due to him causing injuries to the victims, Greengard added.
 
Authorities booked Zelaya into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station with bail set at $100,000, according to booking logs.
 
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
