Nathanial Poulopoulos Dies After Colliding With NDOT Truck in Clark County
CLARK COUNTY, NV (November 7, 2019) — A Nevada correctional officer lost his life Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash along Highway 95 near Kyle Canyon Road.
The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to reports of a collision around 12:15 p.m. Arriving at mile marker 96 along the northbound side, troopers learned that a Nevada Department of Transportation truck and a passenger car collided.
According to reports, the NDOT truck had been conducting freeway maintenance. In addition, the truck was shadowing another vehicle while pulling a broom trailer when the incident occurred.
Under unknown circumstances, Nathanial Poulopoulos rear-ended the truck on the left shoulder. As a result, 28-year-old Poulopoulos died at the scene. In addition, reports noted that he had worked for the Nevada Department of Corrections for 16 months.
His fiancé, Ashley Peabody, spoke out in an interview, describing her fiancé as a creative and caring man.
However, because details remain unclear, investigators are diving in to learn about the circumstances that drove this collision. Thus far, authorities know the NDOT vehicle’s lights were on and the worker, who sustained minor injuries, had followed the department’s safety policies.
