Passenger Dead and Driver Injured after Vehicle Crashes into Light Pole near Rivera Road
PICO RIVERA, CA (September 16, 2018) – A woman was killed early Sunday morning and a man was hospitalized following a solo-vehicle crash near Rivera Road. The deceased victim was later identified as 39-year-old Nancy Godoy, a resident of Pico Rivera.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 12:50 AM in the area of Passons Boulevard and Rivera Road. Witnesses claimed that a Hyundai Genesis was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it slammed into a light pole.
Godoy sustained fatal trauma, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the driver, identified as a Downey man in his 40s, was transported to a local hospital after suffering broken ribs. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the deadly crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
