Motorcycle and Commercial Van Collide on Florida Avenue in Hemet, Major Injuries Sustained

HEMET, CA (July 27, 2019) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured following a traffic collision Saturday morning in Hemet.

The collision happened around 11:30 a.m. on Florida Avenue, between Harvard and State streets.

Officials responded to the scene and located a silver three-wheeled motorcycle and a white Dodge commercial van. Both were blocking the westbound lanes of Florida Avenue, just in front of Shooters Bar and Grill.

The rider was ejected and stuck under the front of the van, pinned between the grill of the commercial vehicle and the bike. He suffered severe trauma and was bleeding profusely from a serious injury to his right leg.

Paramedics treated the rider at the scene and eventually rushed him to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

Hemet police is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Due to the smaller size of motorcycle vehicles, it is important to be on the lookout for riders while driving. Always make sure it is safe by checking your side mirrors and blind spots before making a lane change. Scan the streets properly and keep your ears open for the sounds of any possible motorcycles nearby before turning at an intersection.
