Good Samaritans Help Catch Hit-and-Run Driver near Maple Street
COSTA MESA, CA (August 28, 2018) – A man was hospitalized Tuesday evening following a hit-and-run crash on Victoria Street. His name and place of residence were not immediately disclosed to the public.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 9:00 PM near Maple Street. An Isuzu Rodeo was driving down Victoria when it struck a motorcyclist.
15-year-old Giannina Bauer and her father witnessed the scene and noticed that the driver was starting to flee the scene. They chased the suspect down to Pinecreek Apartments on Fairview Road, and the pursuit continued for a couple of miles before the driver and a passenger fled on foot.
Five minutes later, the police arrived and were able to arrest one of the suspects, whose name was not released. The other person remained at large.
The male motorcyclist suffered brain damage and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Investigators are waiting for the victim to recover and positively identify the person in custody. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
