Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Interstate 17 in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (April 11, 2025) – A motorcyclist died following a crash on Interstate 17 with a paratransit bus near the old Metrocenter Mall, according to Phoenix police.

Officers arrived at the scene near 28th Drive and Peoria Avenue around 11:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision. 

Investigators believe the motorcyclist, an adult man, collided with the mini-bus and suffered severe injuries as a result.

Emergency crews transported the man to a nearby hospital in extremely critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries, police confirmed.

The crash forced authorities to close Peoria Avenue in both directions, though the road was reopened after 4 p.m. 

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
